Categories: International, Banking, Forex, Regulations
The World Bank initiated the Agricultural Sector Investment Program in the mid-1990s in order to spur development in Africa's farming space. The goals of the project included improving food security in underdeveloped countries, expanding certain agricultural resources, and providing jobs in the countries.
A handful of African countries eventually participated in the program, starting with Zambia. The Zambian project lasted from 1995 until the end of 2001, with the World Bank committing $60 million to the endeavor.
