Agroforestry is the parallel process utilization of land for both farming and forestry purposes.
Think about it like a whole bunch of redwood trees planted in between corn crops, letting in just enough light so that the corn can flourish as the redwoods take root.
It doesn't just have to be corn. Agroforestry involves grazing of cattle, sheep, and goats, otherwise known as automatic fertilizer producers, and the broad gist here is that our little blue marble is running out of land, and one way or another, if we're to feed a ten billion-plus population, we're going to need to find better ways to use the scarce resources we have.
