Bear position describes a position taken when investing in short term financial shares. The investor taking the bear position is betting that the share price will fall, and they invest with the intention to profit off that fall.
A method to do this is to buy a put option (option but not obligation to sell a certain share at a certain price within a certain timeframe) that allows for that hoped-for profit to occur. In a way, this is the option for the doomsdayer investor.
