Certified Asset Protection Analyst - CAPA
Categories: Ethics/Morals, Education, Regulations, Investing
If you've never seen the series Ozark on Netflix, Jason Bateman plays a financial professional who is laundering money for a drug lord. His skill set is a textbook rundown of the qualifications required for a CAPA designee:
A Certified Asset Protection Analyst (CAPA) is a financial professional (most often an attorney), who has received accreditation from the the American Academy of Financial Management for completed required subject course work in International Tax Planning, Offshore Financial Services, Wealth Management, International Tax Treaties and legal planning, Asset Protection, Immigration laws, and Estate Planning.
CAPA designees must also be subject to continuing education requirements for maintaining their CAPA title. In other words, a CAPA is the Meyer Lansky mob guy, while the CAPO is the Al Capone guy.
