Employment Agency Fees
Categories: Company Management
If you've ever watched Entourage or Jerry Maguire, you know that movie stars and professional athletes have agents. And...that sometimes those agents are a little scream-y.
The agents negotiate the best deals for their talent and/or try to find them jobs when the employers aren't actively knocking. They generally move their careers forward. Regular folk have a similar option, called employment agencies. They find gigs for typists and brick haulers and call center magazine telemarketers.
Employee agencies don't work hard out of an altruistic spirit. It's all about the fees, baby.
The fees collected by these agencies usually come from the employer. The company that hires an employee through an agency gives the recruiter a chunk of cash for their effort. It works like a finder's fee for making the placement.
You get a job through an employment agency. The company pays the employment agency $17 an hour for you to work there. Meanwhile, you get your paycheck from the employment agency for $15 an hour. The remaining $2 goes into the employment agency's coffers. Quick, easy money. And, unlike you, they don't even need to be able to type 75 wpm to get it.
