Gatekeeper

Categories: Regulations

There you are standing at a vault, hoping to be able to open it and get all the gold. There's a wizard standing there saying you must answer a series of questions before you can open the doors to the vault. The gatekeeper begins asking a series of questions. You answer, hoping you pass.

If you pass he opens the door. If you fail, he and the vault of money disappears. He is the one thing that stands in the way between you and all the gold you desire. The image of the vault and wizard disappears, and now you're sitting in front of a financial guru who's checking to see if you meet all the requirements to pass the gatekeeper clause in your bond. He smiles, says you have met them all, and you get to cash in your bond or trust.

Gatekeepers exist all over the place; they're the people who cover their hineys by just saying "no" to deals, to risk, to adventures. It's easy to say no and hard to say yes in the investing world.

Bottom line: You don't want to be one of these people.
