Gilt Fund
Categories: Mutual Funds, Investing
Gilt as in gold, not emotional regret.
Gilt funds are primarily found in the UK, as they are a type of British investment. The government or large companies issue these securities as low-risk investments. They're perfect for beginner investors who want something slightly better than a saving account.
Sometimes the issuance of a gilt fund is associated with corporate or government debt...meaning that large corporations or governments offer these funds to investors to help fund something else, like a project or new initiative. The funds are slowly paid during a period of time: typically 5, 10, or 30 years.
