Grey Wave

In the stock market, you can be a speculator or an investor. A speculator goes for the short-term pop in a company's share price. A biotech company applies for FDA approval for its cancer treatment. You buy ahead of the announcement and sell right after the good news comes out. You buy, the stock climbs, you sell...all in quick succession (that’s the plan anyway).
An investor is looking more long-term. Buy and hold. You believe in the company’s prospects over the long-term. You plan to hold the stock for years. Another name for this outlook: the grey wave.
The term “grey wave” applies to the very long-term outlook for a company. Like...we’ll all have grey hair by the time you sell your shares.
