Gas. Oil. Dead dino meat and flora. They all died 10s of millions of years ago, and their rottingness and the rheumy they produced created various flavors of hydrocarbons, which Shell, BP, Chevron, and others all "mine" from the ground. We hungry consumers of it happily drive our cars, warm the air, and then act surprised and sad when we see skinny Polar Bears dying.
