You dated her for a year. Thought you'd have babies. She wanted to join the circus, and when the Cirque de Soleil bid came, she was gone. (And let's be honest...her, um, flexibility was always part of the attraction.) So you moved on and had a rebound relationship. It was short and sweet and...helped.
Markets carry the same dynamics. They rise and fall like a trapeze artist...but over time, markets go up in value, or at least the indices underlying them do. A rebound is just that bounce after a downdraft in your relationship with, say, the S&P 500. You recover. You move on. You swipe right.
