Redlining
Categories: Regulations
You received a contract to buy a car from Smilin' Sam. The first 3 paragraphs stated the price and listed the VIN Number and a few other details, like who would be paying for the state registration and other filings. And then, in paragraph 4, it noted that you agreed to hold Sam harmless from any future dealings or incidents from which you were harmed by said car. You read further, and another sentence claimed that you agreed not to contest title or true legal ownership of the car "no matter what." Odd contract phrase. Then another said that you would waive any fees due to covering "bullet holes, blood stains (mostly in trunk area), and the discovery of any apertures, holes, or convective pods in the car wherein drugs were stored, legal or illegal..."
So...you spent a while redlining all of these conditions by Smilin' Sam. You were not going to hold him harmless for any of that stuff. And, well, of course it made you rethink the idea of buying this black limo from him in the first place.
Next time: Carvana.
