Trumponomics
Categories: Econ, Regulations, Tax
Donald Trump was very clear about his economic policies during his presidential campaign leading up to his election in 2016. Now known as Trumponomics, he made some bold promises that business as usual was about to change, and thus far he has tried to keep many of those promises.
He cut corporate and personal taxes for many middle and lower level earners and massively raised taxes on the wealthy by getting rid of the ability to deduct state taxes from federa.. Trump dropped out of the Paris Agreement to control greenhouse gas emissions, and implemented increased import tariffs on certain goods from China, Mexico, Canada and the European Union, trying to equalize the great disparity in the openness of the U.S. for others to come here and compete versus the high-friction environment American companies fight when trying to sell their goods overseas.
He also pledged to greatly increase spending on infrastructure such as roads and bridges. Economists disagree regarding their projections for Gross Domestic Product growth, inflation and unemployment, but predictions are predictably split among party lines with those on the Left fearing a trade war will have a negative effect on all of the above and those on the Right, noting that if we continue to allow the current trade disparity to continue, the U.S. will look a lot like Europe looks today in being economically weak and no longer a world economic power. Our thought on all of the data coming in: Recall The X-Files. Trust no one. Believe little. And then watch Twilight Zone reruns in black and white. They really had it going.
