Window Of Opportunity
Categories: Trading
A window of opportunity is a short period of time where someone has the chance to take an action that will benefit them greatly. For instance, if you hear an ice cream truck approaching, you have a short period of time to make up your mind, deciding if you want to chase the truck like a maniac. No judgment here.
In finance, a window of opportunity could mean an investment opportunity, which may never appear again, especially as markets tend to rise overall, albeit at different rates. For instance, choosing to invest in a security in a certain price window, buying a start-up, investing in a hot IPO, or buying some property. Gotta get a good deal while it’s on the table.
Get it while it’s hot, as we say in the fast-moving corridors of Shmoopland.
