Writ

I writ, you writ, we writ.
A “writ” is a document written by a judge or honorable-equivalent that demands a person does (or stops doing) something. If you take your mind back to ye olden times: imagine someone in ridiculous pants on horseback delivering a document from the high court of the land that says you are no longer allowed to moon people, or that you have to come to court (a subpoena), or that they’re legally allowed to search you (a warrant).
Yep, subpoenas and warrants are types of “writs” (and yes, you really should stop mooning people). Writs are how judges get things done stat. Laying down the law.
