Context
This line is spoken by Butch Cassidy (played by Paul Newman) in the movie Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, directed by George Roy Hill (1969).
This quote comes from the classic buddy Western about two smooth-talkin' bank robbers who eventually beat it to Bolivia to avoid the heat (the legal heat, that is). Butch delivers this line to Sundance when a posse has cornered them on a cliff and they're forced to jump into the river below to escape. Eventually, they do make it to Bolivia, but things don't work out too well there, either. It's hard out there for a bank robber.
