Animal House Quotes

Context

This line is spoken by John "Bluto" Blutarsky, played by John Belushi, in the movie Animal House, directed by John Landis (1978).

Animal House is a classic 70s comedy about the most disreputable fraternity that ever existed and its battle with the tyrannical Dean Wormer. John Belushi steals the show as the drunken, slovenly Bluto, who's still a role model for underachievers everywhere.

This line pops up when the guys find out that they're on double secret probation, after which they do the only responsible thing they can think of—throw a toga party. The festivities are, of course, encouraged by Bluto's famous chant.

Where you've heard it

If you went to college in the 80s and happened to frequent frat parties, then you probably heard the line bellowed firsthand by a lot of guys wearing sheets and no underwear. These days, you might witness the same thing at a frat toga party, but now it's done with that winking look-how-retro-we-are kind of attitude. Congrats. Now you'll be in on the joke.
