Protagonist
Character Role Analysis
Holly Golightly
The protagonist is really the central character of the story, and Holly is clearly at the center of everything that happens in Breakfast at Tiffany's. But she's kind of a complex one since the protagonist is usually considered the "good guy," and we might not all agree that Holly is so good. Do we like her all of the time? Probably not. Do we understand the choices she makes? Not really. But she's the link to all the other characters and it's her story that drives the narrative. Plus, there are things about her that are kind of endearing and, at some point, most of us probably do start to root for this complicated lady.
