Luisa Rey Timeline & Summary
MoreLuisa Rey Timeline & Summary
- Welcome to the 1970s. Journalist Luisa Rey gets trapped in an elevator with Rufus Sixsmith. Remember him?
- Sixsmith leads Luisa to believe that Seaboard Corp's new nuclear reactor on Swannekke Island might have a fatal flaw.
- Before Luisa can get an official interview with Sixsmith, Bill Smoke, an assassin hired by Seaboard's CEO, murders Sixsmith in his hotel room.
- Luisa pretends to be Sixsmith's daughter and is given his personal possessions, including a sheaf of letters from his first love, Robert Frobisher.
- The letters awaken something in Luisa, and she begins to suspect she is Frobisher reincarnated.
- With Sixsmith dead, Luisa instead interviews scientist Isaac Sachs.
- Sachs leaves a copy of the Sixsmith report in Luisa's trunk, but, leaving Swannekke, Bill Smoke rams her car off a bridge—with her in it.
- Luisa survives the fall, but the Sixsmith report does not. Paper and water don't mix.
- As Luisa scrambles for the truth, she evades Bill Smoke's multiple murder attempts. Sachs, sadly, does not. He dies when Smoke puts a bomb on his plane.
- With the help of Joe Napier, the man whose life was saved by Luisa's dad years ago, they find a copy of the Sixsmith report aboard his yacht. Smoke kills Napier; Napier kills Smoke.
- Luisa's article is published. Swannekke is shut down. And Sixsmith's niece gives her Frobisher's final eight letters.
