Exactly how steamy is this story?
PG-13
A Confederacy of Dunces is basically a raunchy comedy—there are a lot of dirty jokes, but little intercourse. In fact, virtually the only actual sex is a sad, glancing reference to the "horrible night" when Mrs. Reilly and her husband went to see the stimulating film Red Dust and Ignatius was conceived (4.94). Otherwise, there are dirty pictures, strip club acts, and references to light homosexual bondage, but no sex. The most explicit the novel gets is a brief, circumspect description of Ignatius masturbating while thinking of his childhood puppy (2.14-15).
