Character Analysis
Hammond's granddaughter, Lex, likes baseball and dislikes dinosaurs. She really doesn't do much in the book; the movie version improved her character by making her the older sibling and the computer wizard.
On the other hand, Hammond's grandson, Tim, loves dinosaurs and loves computers. He therefore has much more to do in the story than his younger sister. His character, such as it is, is meant to be relatable to young dinosaur-loving readers of the novel.
