Thanks to his sister's hijacking of his work in the years following his mental collapse, Nietzsche got painted (entirely in white, of course) as a proto-Nazi Aryan philosopher. There's actually a famous picture of Hitler gazing intently at a bust of the then long-dead philosopher.

Lucky for us, later Nietzsche scholars pointed out how ridiculous accusations of anti-Semitism and German nationalism were in light of Nietzsche's explicit condemnation of those very things. Even so, to this very day, you'll run into someone from time to time who remembers Nietzsche as "that Nazi philosopher." Oof.
