Protagonist
Character Role Analysis
Leroy Moffatt
Our protagonist—grass tokin', log-totin' Leroy—dreams of building a love nest for two. Trouble is, he mostly just lies around like a bump on a log, struggling to figure out what to do with his life and how to get closer to his wife now that he's home and out of work.
Leroy is the main character and the story is told from his point of view, but that doesn't make him the hero. He's more of an antihero. That doesn't make him a villain, though. Leroy isn't trying to inflict harm or cause trouble of any kind, but he's not exactly a role model. You don't want to follow in this lunkhead's clunky footsteps, Shmoopers. We've said it before and we'll say it again: Just say no.
