Here’s your Shmoop du jour, brought to you by wild pythons—

00:08

and we’re not talking about what pro wrestlers and Miss Bulgaria call their arms.

00:16

Here’s a passage and two viewpoints written by scientists.

00:25

Who of the following would be most interested in the fact that pythons are found as

00:30

pets throughout the United States, yet established wild populations

00:34

are only found in Texas and Florida?

00:38

And here are the potential answers…

00:43

So what’s this question asking? This one is more of an inference question than

00:48

anything else, so let’s take a look. Read between the lines of the question.

00:52

What does it mean if there are pets all around the United States,

00:55

but wild populations only exist in some parts of the country?

00:59

Who would benefit from that information?

01:02

Well, there must be a reason that wild populations tend to migrate to Texas and Florida.

01:07

There must be something about the habitats there that pythons, and many retirees, love.

01:12

Scientist 2 seems to think that snakes will eventually inhabit areas as far away

01:17

as New York, Washington, and so on. What about scientist 1?

01:21

He directly says that currently, there are only two places in the US that have a suitable climate for these snakes:

01:27

a region in southern Florida, and the southern part of Texas.

01:31

Seems like he would be more interested in the fact that wild pythons flourish in Florida and Texas.

01:36

So, that's it!

01:38

Option A’s our answer!
