The wide world may not be your stage, but your company certainly is. HR directors enjoy a degree of fame on the company turf, although it may be more accurate to call this kind of fame infamy. Everyone in the company knows of the HR director—the source of workplace procedures, workplace paperwork, and many workplace grievances.
So due to fame or infamy, everyone in the company will know your name.
