As for self-employment: as hard as it is to make a name for yourself, the demand for custom and boutique jewelry is holding pretty strong these days. Like…Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson-strong. To hang on in the jewelry game, you'll have to work at it. You've gotta want it. But, if you put the effort in, you can make it.
