Stress
Every job has its ups and downs. Sometimes it feels like you're being pulled up and down and every which way all at once and if you don't get a pint of mint chocolate chip froyo with dragon fruit this instant, you're just going to snap. Welcome to the world of stress. Everybody feels it from time to time, especially folks with complicated jobs like linguists. It's just a matter of knowing how to deal.
Froyo is one way. Living somewhere sunny is another. Although, sometimes the heat makes people crazy.
Linguists work hard all day to solve problems and figure out puzzles. If you've ever done a puzzle, you know that sometimes you get a piece that just doesn't seem to fit anywhere. You want to smash the whole thing to bits and go get froyo because it's just about the most frustrating thing in the world.
Then you realize that someone put a bunch of pieces from the wrong puzzle into this box, and you have to sort it all out before starting over. That's sort of what this job is like.
That said, you can usually leave your worries at the office, because most linguists work a nine-to-five type of schedule.
