Odds of Getting In
Mall security is looking up as a profession. Since shopping has become our national pastime—after all, the Mall of America in Minnesota gets forty million visitors a year—malls will keep getting built. And more malls mean more job openings for mall security.
The key is to increase your chances of getting in by having the right experience and training. If you're ex-military or ex-police and have a good track record, you'll get the job. If you're a mixed martial arts instructor, bodyguard, or you own your own personal safety gym, you'll also have a good shot.
However, you also need to show some patience. If you walk into the interview and talk about how ready and willing you are to "bust some thugs upside the face," we think they'll require some anger management and diversity training before giving you the keys to the mall.
