Odds of Hanging On
If you're good at what you do (this sort of work requires someone dedicated to helping people, and that takes a great deal of energy), your clients, their families, and even your supervisors and superiors will see that your work is needed and valid. You're someone to hang onto; someone who's making this hospital, school, whatever institution (if you decide to go that route) look good.
So work your hardest, stay on top of the newest theories, and let it be known how much you love what you're doing. The rest should just fall in line.
