Reading RF.K.2.A

Recognize and produce rhyming words.

Kindergartners may be a few years from Shakespearean sonnets, but rhyming's a skill we can work on at a young age. Your youngins should be able to point out the parts of words responsible for rhymes and think of words that have those parts in common. So, introduce them to long and short vowel sounds and expect them to identify rhyming words.
