Explain how an author uses reasons and evidence to support particular points in a text.

This Common Core Standard asks students to act as Support-Your-Author Man. What would happen if the author suddenly couldn't explain anything anymore and it was up to the student to explain the author's message. In that situation, what reasons and evidence would the student use? If they can act as a good stand-in for the author, then they'll have gotten this standard.
