Tree Diagram

Categories: Charts

This is not a still life of some majestic redwood. Instead, a tree diagram is a visual representation of the sample space, or all possible outcomes, of a series of events.

We start by listing all the outcomes of the first event. We then create branches off each of those first outcomes, one branch for each possible outcome of the second event. We write each second outcome over and over on each first branch. If we have a third event, we create branches equal in number to the outcomes of that event coming off every second outcome, and lather, rinse, and repeat.

If you're bad at remembering to water your plants, however, you may want to start with a succulent diagram. Way lower maintenance.
