In this example, types is a simple present tense verb. Since Alan is a third-person singular subject, we added –s to the base form of the verb type.

Here, burned is a simple past tense verb. In retrospect, trying to pop the corn with a blowtorch was probably a bad idea.

Will land is a verb in the simple future tense because Janice hasn't arrived yet. There's still plenty of time for her friends to argue about who has to go pick her up at the world's busiest airport.
