Literary Fiction, Psychological Thriller and Suspense
"The Return of Chorb" is an odd duck. As one of Nabokov’s more artful short stories, it’s certainly classic literary fiction – focused more on style and artistry than plot. But it’s got an interesting element of suspense thrown in there, too. Look at it this way: a crazed widower, a prostitute, the spectral appearance of his dead wife, creepy happenings in a seedy hotel room – sounds like a psychological thriller, doesn’t it?
