Oh No She Didn't
Just when you think that books have lost their relevance, Alice Walker brings it all back to the forefront. Walker is one of those take no prisoners kind of authors—the ones who know their work has power. And Ms. Walker wields that power better than Gandalf the Grey. In fact, Alice Walker won't let her novel or adaptions of it appear anywhere she doesn't fully agree with. This New York Times article should make us all proud that we are among the free and are able to read The Color Purple.
The author Alice Walker has told an Israeli publisher that she will not permit it to release a Hebrew-language translation of her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, "The Color Purple," as a protest of Israel's treatment of Palestinians.
