If you're looking for someone to blame for the Goth tendency to wear all black, look no further than the vamps at the Théâtre des Vampires. Their idea of a good time is to sit about gossiping in dim-to-no lighting and dressed head-to-toe in black. If Hot Topic had been around in the 18th century, they would totally have done their shopping there.
"We blend with the night" (3.210): that's their reason for their dark camouflage. They also blend in with Santiago in less wholesome ways, choosing to help him kidnap Claudia, Louis, and Madeleine, and killing Claudia at Lestat's orders. This backfires when Louis decides that these vamps would blend well with gasoline and fire. None of the vampires at the Théâtre survive the inferno.
