Inspector Javert

Inspector Javert might not be the worst dude in the world, but he certainly makes all kinds of trouble for our protagonist, Jean Valjean. There are times when you just want to tell him to go bother someone else and leave the poor guy alone.

But Javert is the definition of single-minded when it comes to fulfilling his duty as a police officer. He won't rest until Valjean is behind bars for good. Of course, this whole worldview blows up in his face when Valjean saves his life. After that, Javert commits suicide because he can't really picture a world where he's not an antagonist to someone like Valjean.
