Case File: Helen vs. Philoctetes and Oenone
Police Reports
Case Description: Complainant (Helen) accuses Defendants (Philoctetes and Oenone) of murder. After the Greek hero Philoctetes shot Paris with one of Heracles' poison arrows, Helen traveled to the nymph Oenone, Paris's first wife. Helen begged and pleaded for Oenone to heal Paris, but the nymph wouldn't do it. So despite Helen's best efforts, Paris died in horrible pain.
Case Status: Case dismissed. You can't really blame Philoctetes. It was war after all. Oenone ended up punishing herself. She felt so guilty about not helping Paris that she flung herself on his funeral pyre and died.
