- World War II
C.S. Lewis experienced World War II, and he was a devout Christian. When you mix the two together, you have an interesting blend called The Chronicles of Narnia. To understand how Lewis experienced World War II, you can do some more research on the war. We're all about historical context, so we highly recommend it. - The Golden Compass
If you're feeling daring, check out The Golden Compass, which displays a pretty anti-Narnia agenda. Author and straight-up atheist Phillip Pullman is vocal about his distaste for Lewis' Narnia series, and set out to encourage children to question organized religion. There's ample opportunity for theme and allegory comparison between the two.
