Job growth in this field is limited because those that made it have stuck around…and around, and around. Most butchers work for as long as they possibly can, clutching onto that cleaver like it's their lifeline.
A butcher who retires before they absolutely have to probably got into butchery for the wrong reasons, like thinking that it was easy because a college degree isn't required or because they saw somebody do it on a show that one time and it looked cool. Aside from leaving because you wanted to, or accidentally poisoning people, you should be able to stick around in this field as long as you'd like.
