Language L.4.4.B
Use common, grade-appropriate Greek and Latin affixes and roots as clues to the meaning of a word (e.g., telegraph, photograph, autograph).
Those crazy Greeks and Romans gave us some great words, and even if etymology isn't your thing, you have to admit, the roots are pretty cool. And essential to using context clues. Knowing word roots can give hints about meaning and spelling, so this standard helps our students become linguistic powerhouses.
