Compare and contrast stories in the same genre (e.g., mysteries and adventure stories) on their approaches to similar themes and topics.

The point of this Common Core standard is to show students that there are tons of stories out there, even within the same genre and between stories that are about similar things. Other than that, students shouldn't be expected to do any high-level comparisons or generalizations like what will be expected in middle school.
