This book has several antagonists, including Silas Wegg, Rogue Riderhood, and Bradley Headstone. Both Riderhood and Headstone attempt to murder other (more likeable) characters for selfish reasons, while Silas Wegg takes advantage of Mr. Boffin's generosity in an attempt to blackmail the man.

Luckily, this book is a comedy, so all of these characters get their comeuppance in the end. Headstone and Riderhood both die, while Wegg gets thrown into a (tee hee) garbage cart.
