Character Role Analysis
Mr. Wilfer
Mr. Wilfer isn't exactly the strongest character in this book. In fact, he's mostly an emotional punching bag for his wife and two daughters. But no matter how the world treats him, he works hard and acts kindly toward everyone he meets.
Eventually, his daughter Bella breaks out of her selfish habits and sees him for the wonderful guy he is. From that moment, the two are inseparable, and Mr. Wilfer is the only family Bella invites to her wedding with John Harmon. If there's anyone Charles Dickens would want us to act like, it's good ol' Mr. Wilfer.
