Writing percents as fractions is one of the chillest conversions. Simply write the percent over 100, then reduce.
Example 2
Write 35% as a fraction.
Write 35 in the numerator and 100 in the denominator to convert 35% into a fraction, then simplify by dividing both the numerator and denominator by 5.
Ding ding ding. We have a winner.
Example 3
Write 150% as a fraction.
150% is more than 100% so when we convert it to a fraction, we'll get a mixed number.
We convert 150% into a fraction by giving it a denominator of 100 and then dividing. Since 100 divides into 150 one whole time, we write 1 as a whole number. The remainder becomes the fraction 50 over 100 and then we simplify.
Example 4
Write 1.5% as a fraction.
This one's a little weird. We can't just stick 15 over 100, because there's a decimal point in there. Instead, we'll convert 1.5% into a decimal first by moving the decimal point to the left two spots. Then we convert the decimal into a fraction like normal.
