Character Role Analysis
The Judge and Memo Paris
The Judge is a corrupt manipulator who cares only about money, even if it means betraying his own team. He's happy to lose the game if it means making money. His values are opposite Roy's, who's all about playing clean. In the end it's the Judge that triumphs, getting at Roy's weakness for money and Memo.
If the Judge gets in the way of Roy's career, then Memo's his accomplice. She keeps Roy at arm's length because he's poor and promises a relationship if Roy can make a pile of money. She does her part to make Roy compromise his principles.
