Here’s your shmoop du jour, brought to you by Dice.

00:05

They actually didn’t have ANY dots on them at all… until they came down with a nasty case of measles.

00:13

If two standard 6-sided dice are rolled,

00:15

what is the probability that the sum of the dice will be greater than 10?

00:20

And here are the potential answers…

00:24

So an easy way to answer this question is to draw a table.

00:29

On each side, we’ll represent the result of rolling one of the dice.

00:34

Then, we’ll find the sum of each combination.

00:36

Now, all we have to do is count the spaces

00:39

where the sum is greater than 10. You may have to use your toes. Get your socks off.

00:45

There are two spaces with 11, and one with 12.

00:48

That’s 3 spaces out of 36 possible combinations.

00:52

So the answer is 3/36 or 1/12, and our answer is (C).

01:05

Thank goodness we arrived at an answer before we had to start counting other body parts…
