Common Core Standards
Grade 5
Reading RI.5.6
Analyze multiple accounts of the same event or topic, noting important similarities and differences in the point of view they represent.
This Common Core Standard builds on what students were first introduced to in fourth grade. However, instead of comparing how things written about the same topic are structurally different, now students have to compare how the ideas each writing represents are different. For example, the author of a primary source may think that the Oxford comma has a right to exist, while the author of a different primary source may think otherwise.
