Occupy Zion
- The gist of this chapter is in its famous opening line: “Woe to them that are at ease in Zion.”
- God describes the complacent rich folks, lolling around on couches stuffing their faces, drinking right out of the wine bowls, listening to music and thinking they can play the lute like King David.
- Make no mistake, they’ll be at the head of the line on the way into exile.
- God vows to punish Israel through a foreign occupation, but if the Israelites still don’t repent he will send the judgment reserved for the most corrupt purveyors of injustice: hipsters playing in a drum circle 24 hours a day.
