Ah, the NCAA FBS National Championship. Oh, and the Fiesta Bowl. And the Rose Bowl. And the Cotton Bowl, the Orange Bowl, the Sun Bowl, the Sugar Bowl, the Outback Bowl, the GoDaddy Bowl, the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl…you get the idea.

Nowadays, it seems there are more bowls than brains, as every corporation with a marketing budget vies for its own bowl game sponsorship.

Let's face it. The FBS Division is where all the media glory is. Sure, winning National Championships at the NCAA FCS, Division-II, and Division-III levels is cool, too. But the bowl games, chances for undefeated seasons, and mid-major upsets are what fuel college football fans from August to January.

In 2014, the FBS upped the ante. Out with the BCS and in with a four-team playoff. Now, a committee determines the four playoff participants for the National Championship game. Make it to this game and anything could happen.

At the end of the season, there are a bunch of awards for a bunch of guys who did really well during the season. The pats on the back are nice, but everyone shoots for the big one: the Heisman Trophy. It's the highest individual honor a college football player can receive and is presented to the best all-around player in the game for that season.
